The October 1st, 2017 horrific shooting at the Route 91 Harvest Festival in Las Vegas was the latest in a seemingly never-ending series of tragedies (Sadly the list continues to grow every week).
We, Nevadans of every political background, are calling upon our elected officials to pass and implement common sense gun violence prevention methods. We demand immediate action to prevent more needless deaths and we demand that our leaders put public safety first.
In 2016 Nevadans voted in favor of Question 1, The Background Check Initiative, which would require background checks on all gun sales. Sadly, our current Governor and Attorney General have failed to implement the measure more than a year since the election. Many of our board members and supporters worked night and day, raising more than $1.3 million dollars, to pass the measure and are committed to ensuring the will of the voters is realized.
In addition, we are committed to educating our law makers in Nevada on the popularity of common-sense gun violence prevention measures such as background checks on gun sales and the banning of modifications, such as bump stocks, that turn any firearm into an automatic weapon.
